CDS Partners with City of Memphis to Sponsor Children for Summer Day Camp Program Print E-mail

March 25, 2015 - Central Defense Security has partnered with the City of Memphis for the fourth year in a row to collect donations to cover camp costs for deserving Memphis youth to attend Summer Day Camp, offered by the Division of Parks and Neighborhoods.

“This partnership has always been a favorite of ours, as our employees get a chance to interact with the campers during our special sponsored events at various summer day camp locations,” said Larry Carroll, Chief Operating Officer at Central Defense Security. “We encourage community members to join our effort to send underprivileged children to camp and ensure that Memphis youth get the most out of their summer.”

Last year, CDS was able to sponsor more than 130 children at 10 community centers, as well as sponsor a cookout at McFarland Community Center and Hickory Hill Community Center, and provide frozen treats from Sallyanne’s Mobile Ice Cream Diner to campers at Pine Hill Community Center.

The cost to attend the seven-week camp program is $162 per child, or $82 for a child on public assistance. The day camps provide youth with access to educational and athletic activities, as well as field trips.

“As a mother and product of the Memphis community, it means the world to me that CDS provides the opportunity to benefit and interact with kids in our community through this summer camp effort,” said Jerrica Love, Executive Office Assistant at CDS. “Summertime can be a difficult season for single-parent or working families, so we hope our fundraising effort will benefit each and every one of these families.”

If an individual is interested in making a monetary contribution to CDS’ effort, checks should be made payable to the City of Memphis and mailed to:
