CDS Appoints Its First Training Manager Print E-mail
November 5, 2014 – Central Defense Security (CDS), a leading provider of business, retail and warehouse security, has appointed Terry Foster as the company’s first in-house Training Manager. The position was established to address the growing need for officer and management training at a higher level. Foster, who previously worked as an Account Manager for the company at a large distribution center in Memphis, will report to Jason King, Regional Manager at CDS.

“The training aspect for our officers is a significant part of what we do here at CDS,” said Larry Carroll, Chief Operating Officer at CDS. “Terry has a proven track record in law enforcement training, and we are excited to have him join the management team, while growing and leading this program.”

In his new role, Foster is responsible for all officer training, including specialized and firearms training as well as crowd control techniques. Additionally, he instructs Area Managers through a four-hour course on best practices and management principles, such as creative thinking, quick response and problem solving.

Foster attended the University of Oklahoma, and he is a Tennessee-certified instructor for unarmed security and firearms. Prior to joining the company in 2008, he worked as a federal law enforcement officer, where he served as a trainer for 12 years.

“After being approached to lead an in-house training program, I was quick to jump at the opportunity,” Foster said. “My favorite part of this job is the teaching aspect – teaching people the best and most efficient way to do their jobs. It’s an evolving position, and we’re all looking forward to what’s ahead, especially in the technology realm.”
