Central Defense Security Provides Lunch for FedexFamilyHouse Families Print E-mail
July 18, 2013 – Central Defense Security (CDS), a leading provider of business, retail and warehouse security, recently prepared sack lunches for families staying at FedExFamilyHouse. Opened in 2010, FedExFamilyHouse provides a home away from home to out-of-town families with children receiving treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

“We are excited to begin our partnership with both Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and FedExFamilyHouse,” said Ken Moody, Director of Community Relations at Central Defense Security. “CDS invests in the causes our employees are passionate about supporting and these are two organizations that have had an impact in the lives of our staff and officers. We’re excited about dedicating our time and resources to both in the coming months.”

On June 5, nearly 20 CDS employees and friends visited FedExFamilyHouse to prepare more than 100 sack lunches for families who needed to grab a quick meal before visiting their loved ones at Le Bonheur. During the preparation, volunteers worked together in two of the organization’s kitchen areas to prepare sandwiches, while another group baked cookies in the remaining two kitchens. Each sack lunch included a ham or turkey sandwich, chips, fruit, granola bars, beverages, cookies and assorted condiments.

“We’re very appreciative of CDS providing sack lunches for our families at FedExFamilyHouse during such a difficult time,” said Brittany Adams, Volunteer Coordinator at FedExFamilyHouse. “A lot of times, families don’t have a break and it’s very convenient for them when groups like CDS come in to prepare a meal. It enables them to grab the sack lunch on their way to spend time with their loved ones at Le Bonheur.”
