October 13, 2013 – Central Defense Security (CDS), a leading provider of business, retail and warehouse security, hosted Family Fun Day on October 12 at Hickory Hill Community Center to recognize the ongoing contributions its security officers have made to the firm. The event invitation was extended to officers and their family members at all of the firm’s branch locations, including Memphis, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; North Little Rock, Ark.; and several Texas sites.

“Family Fun Day is the perfect opportunity to reinforce how appreciative we are of our security officers,” said Larry Carroll, Chief Operating Officer at Central Defense Security. “Our corporate team did a phenomenal job planning this very special event, which allowed our officers and their loved ones to relax and enjoy the day together.”

During the all-day event, CDS officers and their family members had access to the community center’s basketball courts and indoor pool. The security firm also hired a balloon artist and face painter, as well as setup a dunk tank and inflatable bouncers. Additionally, CDS coordinated a visit from the Memphis Police Department, which stopped by the event with a police car for the children to explore. Guests enjoyed an assortment of food including hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones, cake and cotton candy.

CDS held a special raffle for its officers during the event. Winners included Qinton Anderson, Robert Austin, LeKesha Briscoe, Draine Dotson, Helen Fox, Kenneth Grayson, Janice Gunn, Cary Hollins, Aisha Jackson, Larry Johnston, Leroy Lawrence, Demarrious Malone, Kelia Riley, LaTonya Rodgers, Barbara Simmons, Victoria Smith, Marvin Thomas, Eurlene Vaxter, Cedric Watson, Courtney West, Willie West, Larry Williams and LaQuita Wilson.

Ashley Ashby and Dorothy Wesson both won concert tickets to see Justin Timberlake. Additional prizes were awarded to three CDS security officers, including Daywane Coleman, who won an iPad mini; Jerome Cooper, winner of an LCD television; and Thelma Eaton, who received an additional 40 hours of vacation pay.

“It was such a treat to see how much our officers and their loved ones enjoyed Family Fun Day,” said Chassity Pointer-Gibson, Officer Support Manager for CDS. “The event was truly a team effort and I’m so happy we were able to celebrate our security officers, who continually work very hard to protect our clients.”
