Central Defense Security Supports City's Summer Day Camps Print E-mail
July 31, 2012 – Central Defense Security (CDS), a leading provider of business, retail and warehouse security, announced its support of the Memphis Parks and Neighborhoods’ Summer Day Camp program, which is hosted at community centers around the city. Earlier this year, CDS held a fundraising drive to raise money to offset the camp fees for many Memphis families, including some of CDS’ security officers.

CDS collected more than $7,500, which enabled them to sponsor 50 campers at six sites around Memphis. Additionally, CDS adopted the Riverview Community Center’s camp and employees visited the campers to deliver gifts and play games on what was the company’s seventh anniversary.

“There’s no better way to commemorate CDS’ seventh year in business than to give back to the city that has been so supportive of us,” said Larry Carroll, Chief Operating Officer at Central Defense Security. “It was such a gratifying experience for our team to personally witness the camp experience we provided this year for several Memphis children. We’re already planning next year’s fundraising drive and ask that others join us in supporting such an integral city program.”

During CDS’ first visit to Riverview Community Center on July 3, employees played basketball with campers, distributed toys and provided burgers and hot dogs for lunch. On July 19, CDS sponsored an ice cream truck and campers enjoyed ice cream and other frozen treats with company employees.

“We’re extremely grateful for Central Defense Security’s contributions to our camp program this year,” said Janet Hooks, Director of Memphis Parks and Neighborhoods. “This partnership allows us to serve a significant number of families and we appreciate their involvement in our program.”
