CDS Outfits Memphis Families with Coats for Winter Print E-mail
January 4, 2013 – Central Defense Security (CDS), a leading provider of business, retail and warehouse security, recently distributed 40 coats to underprivileged families served by the community centers in Memphis. The coats were collected from CDS employees, clients and the community during the security firm’s coat drive in November.

“I’m proud of our team for their willingness to continually step up to help those in need,” said Larry Carroll, Chief Operating Officer at Central Defense Security. “We’ve really enjoyed getting to know the families we’ve assisted this year and look forward to making a larger impact next year through our continued partnership with the City of Memphis.”

After collection efforts were complete, CDS had all of the donated coats professionally cleaned by Mercury Valet Dry Cleaners, which donated its services. CDS then worked with Whitehaven Community Center to identify recipients in Memphis for each of the 40 coats. CDS distributed the newly cleaned coats on December 7 at Whitehaven Community Center, which hosted the event. Throughout the afternoon, CDS employees met with families and helped people of all ages find a coat that fit their needs.

“It was a pleasure to work with the CDS team on this project, which meant so much to the families we serve,” said Ivory Boykins, Director of Whitehaven Community Center. “We continue to rely on the generosity of individuals and organizations, like Central Defense Security, to help us continue to serve and assist families in the City of Memphis.”
